EAT Cafe Receives Sunday Suppers' Nourishing Communities Award
EAT Café was honored to receive the Sunday Suppers' Nourishing Communities Award on May 23rd at Sunday Suppers' annual Food Justice For All event. A huge thank you to Sunday Suppers for acknowledging and celebrating our commitment to breaking down barriers to food access in our community! EAT Cafe Staff Racquel, Lloyd, Karl, Callie, and Jess, Community Advisory Committee member Pam Andrews, and Center for Hunger-Free Communities' Director Mariana Chilton joyfully accepted the award. Thank you Linda Samost, Director of Sunday Suppers, for presenting us with this award.
We were so grateful for the opportunity to share such a lovely evening with the staff, members, and supporters of Sunday Suppers! The evening consisted of a delicious three-course family-style meal, speeches from members of Sunday Suppers as well as our very own Mariana Chilton, and a silent auction. And as you can see, the space was absolutely gorgeously decorated (it even gave us some ideas for EAT Cafe's back patio -- coming soon)!
All proceeds from this event benefit Sunday Suppers in its mission to help families make lasting changes towards greater health and well-being through the family meal, hands-on cooking, and other supportive services. A partner organization of SHARE, Sunday Suppers is an innovative family oriented meal program that provides healthy shared dinners, increased access to fresh local food, and other food related support to families in the Norris Square area of Philadelphia.
